25th Vintage Celebration

With a marque being a prerequisite for the first decent rain of Autumn, it was a cosy group of 30+ who started the day with some amazing food (by Gareth McGlynn and Grant Orchard) and wine matches….. spiced leek fritters with the Stich Sauv Blanc 2010 and 2014, White fish Tacos with Homestead Riesling 2006 and Grey Ghost SB 2012, also going down well with whitebait fritters.. onto entree then main of braised lamb cheeks n tail with Shelter Belt Chardonnay 2012, Vintage Widow PN 2012, Gum Emperor 2011, Somerset PN 2011 and more – see attached menu.. all consumed whilst listening to the sounds of Doc Sanchez and Co.

We also had some ‘curios’ to look at – 2002 Sauvignon Blanc, cork vs screwcap, see Raymond Chans comments on his blog on this 🙂 We also showcased some older Vintage Widow 2007 and 2009 and Gum Emperor 2005 and 2009, all these 4 wines drinking superbly.

Amazingly the rain cleared for an hour or two so the sides could come up and a wander through the lovely gardens at Eversley in the Waihopai Valley.

Thanks to all the helpers on the day and all our guests who travelled throughout NZ to celebrate with us.
